Sophie's Analysis
For the planning folder, we all had to analyse a music video, I chose to use Arctic Monkeys - Flourescent Adolescent. The video shows a narrative between two gangs fighting outside an abandoned car park/ warehouse. The characters are clowns vs non clowns, and the video shows various flashbacks from the clown leader's perspective. The video is very reminiscent which correlates with the theme of the song. The shot lengths are very short mostly, and go with the beat and rhythm of the music. This particular video shows featues no band performance, but we intend to show some band performance in our own.

Rebecca's Analysis-
This is a video and my textual analysis grid for the song 'Housewife' by The Cribs who are a band that fit into the same genre as our chosen artist Arctic Monkeys. I thought I would analysis it to help us get a broader feel for indie/rock music videos. This video was interesting as it both follows and challenges the indie/rock music video conventions with the band members seeming ordinary at first and then becoming zombies. This is something we want to encorporate into our own video with a narrative that the audience at first can recognise but then changes to the obscure.

Katie's Analysis-
The basic narrative of this music video is what seems to be a normal day; the Arctic Monkeys are on a boat playing their instruments chilling out when suddenly a storm breaks out; this is then followed by giant glowing versions of the Arctic Monkeys. This slightly absurd storyline fits in with the typical abstract indie convention and this is the kind of strange narrative that we want to put in our own music video. Here is a more detailed analysis of this music video -
