General Ideas
The song we intend to do is ‘This House is A Circus’ by Arctic Monkeys. Our initial idea is to film a house party, where there’s a band playing, teenagers doing stereotypical teenager things, like drinking, dancing, kissing, etc. The main character of the video takes a drug, and then begins to see the other guests as circus creatures, such as clowns etc. All going along with the rhythm and tempo changes of the song. This carries on throughout the house, with the majority of shots following his point of view. Towards the end of the song, the boy is walking out of the house. Then the shot flips to outside the house, and zooms slightly out but the house is a doll’s house which a young girl is playing with, and directing the dolls. This video would be controversial as it’s showing that the young girl knows and sees teenage house parties to be the dominant ideology of the future, for her. So, seeing ‘sex, drugs, rock and roll’ to be a big influence on the youth of today.
